Editor's Note

The following articles are all by 4th year students from Kyrgyz National University and International University of Kyrgyzstan. Many were abridged and published in The Times of Central Asia, one of the only local English-language newspapers in Bishkek. These are the unabridged and unedited letters.

I work for AED, an international development agency located in Washington DC. I will be coming to Kyrgyzstan next week, for three weeks, to do preliminary research for a proposal to work with civil society in Kyrgyzstan.

Would any of you be willing to meet with me? to give me a better understanding of your country, as I write this proposal? to help me understand the civil society sector? to understand anything which you think that an American writing a proposal for work in Kyrgyzstan needs to know? Don't think you need to sell me on anything--I'm ready to listen.

If so, email me at rustmyrtle@gmail.com. We can arrange to meet during the day on a weekend at some public space in Bishkek.

Thank you.
